CELL PHONE POLICY
In-Town Meetings: Scouts may bring cell phones to our in-town meetings. If they do, the phones must be turned off before entering the meeting. Our time together is important and full attention is needed as we make preparations for our Mackinac experience.
WE DO NOT ALLOW SCOUTS TO BRING
CELL PHONES TO THE ISLAND
CELL PHONES TO THE ISLAND
On The Island: Scouts are not allowed to have cell phones during our week on Mackinac Island. We trust our Scouts and their parents to ensure that cell phones remain at home. If we find that a Scout brings a phone to the Island, her parents will be called to immediately come and take her home and she will not be invited back the following year. The Scout will be restricted to barracks until her parents arrive to remove her from the Island.
A large part of “Mackinac Magic” is lifelong friendships that blossom on the Island. Text messaging, calls back home, games, etc. make it difficult for those relationships to develop and be nurtured. The Advisors will have telephones available if a Scout needs to make a call.
